So exactly what is a Butterfish? Well they do exist here: American Butterfish

But that's not exactly what I was referring to. I made a model based off of a concept art by Paul Kolvenbach on ArtStation.

I used Zbrush in order to make the model. This was one of the first times I learned using Zbrush and it was an extreme learning curve however, I think learning this program will give me great results when making 3D models in the future.

Zbrush is a powerful sculpting and painting application. I learned about how to navigate the Zbrush interface and the process of getting geometry ready. I made the initial geometry using ZSpheres and learned how to create and manipulate the mesh.

I also learned how to subdivide my mesh and how to use the sculpting brushes to add detail as well as basic techniques on how to paint my model.

I also learned about masking, polygroups, and several innovative methods for building geometry, including ZModeler, ZSpheres, DynaMesh and ShadowBox. And some brief lighting and rendering.

In the end I made a weird creature which is a Butterfly mashed in with a fish, cool right?

Here is the finished 3D Model, enjoy:
